This Cookie Policy explains how Ember Education Pty Ltd (“we”, “us”) uses cookies and similar technologies — such as browser local storage and session storage — when you use Lantern, our report-comment writing tool for Australian schools. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal information more broadly.
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by your browser. We also use related browser storage mechanisms (local storage and session storage) to keep you signed in and to remember a small number of interface settings. In this policy we refer to all of these collectively as “cookies”.
We use only strictly-necessary cookies
Lantern sets only the cookies that are essential for the service to work. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking on Lantern, and we do not sell or share information about your browsing.
Because every cookie we set is strictly necessary, there is nothing optional to consent to — so Lantern does not show a cookie consent banner. Strictly-necessary cookies are exempt from consent requirements, and we have chosen not to add the kind of non-essential tracking that would require one.

Managing cookies in your browser

Because the cookies we use are strictly necessary, blocking them may stop you signing in or prevent Lantern from working correctly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. If we ever introduce non-essential cookies — such as analytics — we will update this policy, add a consent mechanism, and ask for your consent before any such cookies are set. When we make changes we will revise the “last updated” date above.
